She's so beautiful! She's said like 4 syllables so far and none of them have been just a faucet of hot drool! She probably has other qualities that are also valuable in a woman and I will get back to you ASAP as soon as I think of any! He literally says, "When I see something that I like, I gotta have it. Ne'er one to be friendzoned, the Goz comes up with a charming scheme to win her over Approach The Borderline Personality Disorder Gambit.
He simply climbs on to the spokes of a moving Ferris Wheel and threatens to throw himself into the deadly, grinding machinery unless she agrees to go on a date with him! Instead of fucking screaming in terror at the mentally ill stranger coercing her into touching his penis by blaming her for his imminent gory public suicide THE ULTIMATE NEG and then waiting for the police to arrive after which Gosling can hopefully get the psychiatric and emotional help he needs, Rachel McAdams is like, "Okey dokey!
But I'm getting an appeteaser AND an entree!!! To repeat a relevant point from my Love, Actually review, this is a movie made for women by a man. For their big first date, Goz knows he needs to turn the romance up a notch, but he kind of shot his creephole wad at the carnival. Finally, though, he gets it. What's hotter than a suicide?
How about a double suicide? He points up. At the light. That's the date. Lie in the crosswalk and look at the traffic light. Now, I don't mean to get all Microsoft Encarta on you, Goz, but I'm pretty sure the word you're looking for here isn't "trust," it's "hope.
Also, you know you can see the traffic lights from the sidewalk, right? It is arguably a better angle. But apparently Gosling's 'stincts are right on, because McAdams is so exhilarated by almost getting run over that she presses her boday against his in a sensual dance.
How can a beautiful white woman ever be with a beautiful white man!?!??!?! Speaking of white people, BTW, this movie would be a lot less sympathetic if they made the characters as racist as those people would have been IRL. Kudos on totally whitewashing this region and time period while scoring it mostly with music by black artists, by the way.
Do you know how hard it is to give a shit about Ryan Gosling's unrequited teenage crush while listening to Billie Holiday? Is this screenplay literally a bird's diary? Because that would explain why everyone is constantly screeching and obsessed with flapping around in lakes.
McAdams makes Goz go to a rich-people dinner so she can introduce him to her dad's mustache. Although she has been brought up in a traditional, wealthy family, she is a bit feisty. Subdued in a strict and controlled environment, she seems unhappy and only after meeting Noah, we see her opening up to her adventurous, passionate, and free-spirited side.
Noah — on the other hand — is a carefree young man, who enjoys reading poetry and passing his time while sitting on the porch with his father. Although he is naturally quiet, Allie brings out his humor and charm. Even after all the years of not being with her, he is still crazy about Allie and yes, finally is able to make her his own.
It is also not difficult to understand what it means. Moreover, we were almost expecting it. When we saw Allie and Noah for the first time, we knew, this was going to be awfully, awfully sad! Bittersweet a bit? Tragically yes! Signifying undying, everlasting love, the couple struggle through all odds and finally live together with each other. Towards the end, they are shown as an old, wrinkled pair — Noah suffering from arthritis that makes it difficult for him to walk and Allie from acute dementia.
As Noah reads to her from the notebook, she, for a brief moment remembers that she is the young Allie. He returns home, but the coming morning, he is found unconscious on his bed due to a heart attack.
He is rushed to the hospital and admitted in the ICU, where later that night, he visits Allie in her room. The next morning, a nurse finds that they had peacefully passed away in their sleep with their hands still clasped together. The final scene shows a flock of birds flying away.
Just like birds who hop from one destination to another, Noah and Allie left this earth to possibly find another planet, another dimension or another galaxy … who knows. If you are a religious or spiritual person, you will possibly relate more this version of ending. But wait… there is another ending? In the final scene, Noah and Allie are shown sleeping together. The nurse scene that implied that both are dead is completely left out. As you would have guessed, this ending left fans confused and angry.
So why do men dislike The Notebook? Men dislike that we want something, which we ultimately are not able to have. Why do women love The Notebook? The part that gets me so choked up is that their love lasted all the way to the very end. They promised to love each other forever, and they did. The Notebook, like many of it's its romantic chick flick cousins, has all necessary ingredients that have taught me what "real love" looks like:.
I love this film and most chick flicks, but I also think movies like this may have ruined me. Under their influence, I now expect a formula for my romantic life. I expect to be the beautiful girl with bangs, a quirky personality and a hidden talent, maybe for ice sculpting or horse whispering. I'll have a dream job with a terrible boss and very little pay, but somehow a huge apartment and great clothes.
And my hair will look perfect when I wake up in the morning so I can go off and greet my funny sidekick and wacky family members. As for my true love, it will begin at first sight, probably during the summer at either a fair, farmers market, book store or really swanky bar. He will just know I'm "the one" and he will pursue me relentlessly. He will have feelings and deep thoughts -- and be able to verbally express them.
He will surprise me with unrealistic random acts of romance.
